Balance & Oils
For me, balance means more than just keeping up with our three kids, the bakery, and life’s daily chaos. Balance is about making space for peace in the home, health in our bodies, and joy in our hearts. Essential oils have been one of the simplest and most powerful tools we’ve found to create that rhythm.
I use them throughout our day — not to control life, but to gently nudge it in the right direction. At bedtime, Cedarwood and Peace & Calming help our little ones rest well and wake refreshed. When stomachs complain (and bakers do sometimes overindulge), DiGize is a lifesaver. For headaches, peppermint is my go-to. And when the whole house feels like it’s spinning, a diffuser with Gathering settles the air.
(Rev likes to joke that oils don’t run our life — they just make sure we don’t run around every three minutes chasing the kids when it’s supposed to be movie night. He’s not wrong.)
From the Kitchen to the Heart
Our bakery is one of the places where oils meet daily life. Culinary oils like cinnamon bark, cardamom, peppermint, and nutmeg slip into muffins, brownies, and cookies. One drop can transform the flavor, and sometimes we make it a game — each batch gets a different oil, and the kids have to guess the flavor.
It’s more than fun. Peppermint lifts chocolate, clears the head, and even keeps insects at bay. Lavender soothes when I (or Rev) get a little too close to a hot pan. God gave plants with purpose, and I love finding those purposes in both the kitchen and our health.
Oils on the Trail
Our outdoor life is one of the places we feel closest to God. Hiking, camping, or running — we always pack oils like citronella, peppermint, En-R-Gee, and Nitro. They’re small things, but they remind us of creation’s design. Being outside is worship in itself, and using these gifts keeps us mindful of the Creator who made them.
Balance for a Family of Five
Balance, for us, is making sure every child feels seen, making sure Rev and I protect time for our marriage, and weaving healthy rhythms into the busy schedule — hikes, walks, even Acro Yoga when we’re feeling adventurous. Balance is also about feeding mind, body, and soul so our whole family can thrive.
Faith keeps us centered. The world isn’t as bad as it often looks, because God is faithful. Obedience to Him keeps our priorities straight, and caring for ourselves helps us stay ready to serve others.
Everyday Health Support
For focus, energy, and endurance: NingXia Nitro, En-R-Gee blend, and peppermint.
For relaxation and recovery: Cedarwood, Peace & Calming, Stress Away.
For peace in the home: Whatever’s in the diffuser that day! Sometimes Stress Away, sometimes citrus blends, always something that makes our home feel like a sanctuary.
These little gifts don’t replace faith — they support it. When our bodies function the way God designed them, our spirits are free to do what He’s called us to.
An Invitation
If you’re reading this as a busy parent, know this: wellness doesn’t have to be complicated. I started small, step by step. Rev? He dove in headfirst, because as he says, “This beautiful lady must be doing something right.”
Essential oils have helped us create balance, peace, and health in our home. For us, they’ve become more than products — they’re conversation starters about faith, stewardship, and living the life God calls us to. We’d love to invite you into that journey.
